Wow. Where did the time go? Has it really been a year already since we opened the Naviant Café? It must be, because it’s nearly Talk Like A Pirate Day again. In celebration of our first year (And pirates! Arrrr!), we’d like to buy five of you a round of coffee (or grog – I don’t want anyone to get scurvy) as a thank you for supporting us in this endeavor.
As is usually the case in a first year, there were a few bumps while we figured out the best way to both present and protect the information we wanted to share with our customers. In the end, we drank a lot of coffee (everyone else) and not-coffee (me), set fingertips to keyboards, and got down to business.
One of the biggest challenges early on was trying to find the line between being too technical and not technical enough. And, though I did intend to talk about the other applications we support such as Brainware and PaperVision, most of my time helping customers this year was spent in OnBase. It made sense to concentrate my efforts there to start, but I hope to have an opportunity to broaden the scope in the future. There is still a lot to talk about and I am really enjoying the challenge of making technical writing accessible. Also, we’d like to hear from more of you, so invite a co-worker or friend who hasn’t frequented the café yet to drop by!
To be entered into the drawing, leave a comment on this post letting us know how we’re doing so far and what you want to see more of in the café over the next year. Eligible comments are ones that provide more useful feedback than “Yarrr, this be great!” or “Ye be a lily livered scallywag who ortin’ t’ be keel hauled!” For example, we would love suggestions for article topics! Are there any blog features you would like us to add? In other words, we’re looking for things we can take action on. (Pirate speak is not required for eligibility.) On Wednesday, September 19, we’ll draw random numbers based on the number of eligible entries and announce the lucky winners! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. You’re my favorite. Yarrr.
