One of the challenges in creating an overlay image is finding the balance between maximum image quality and minimum file size. A large, high-resolution image will look gorgeous, yes, but it will also affect load times if used for viewing. Likewise, a low-resolution image will load quickly but may be blurry with text elements that are difficult to read.
