You’ve seen the statistic and heard the experts, employee turnover is expensive…very expensive! The real cost of employee turnover is that it destroys your ability to build the talent your organization needs to grow and thrive.
Why do you lose good employees? It often comes down to a lack of employee engagement – especially with new hires. Extensive research tell us that new team members that fail to engage early in their employment will likely be looking for a new job within a year of starting.
A great onboarding experience is vital to your company’s success.
- It shows your new employee the company cares and that it is a great place to work.
- It helps develop a strong foundation in new team relationships.
- It makes your new employee feel empowered with the information and resources they need to excel in their new role.
- It quickens their ability to start making a contribution to the success of your company.
Naviant leverages OnBase to consistently organize and execute the onboarding process by ensuring everybody understands the process, stays on track, is compliant and safely secures information. We use OnBase to specifically help us in the following ways:
- Efficiently collect employment documents
We utilize a workflow to make sure we obtain all 18 of our required documents during the onboarding process. We want to minimize the time spent on tracking paperwork and the stress of compliance. This in return makes the process as simple and organized as possible for the new employee. In fact, many of these documents are completed by the new employee before their first day! - Be ready to work on day one
The day we receive a signed acceptance letter an IT request e-form is initiated, through OnBase, to the new employee’s supervisor. The supervisor is reminded daily until the request form is completed, once completed it allows our IT department time to configure the new employee’s workstation with the appropriate software tools. - Share information
Good communication is perhaps the single greatest thing you can do to encourage employee engagement. We make extensive use of the Knowledge Transfer tool within OnBase to provide a base level of communication with all of our employees to ensure they’re reading important documentation. For instance, we use it to communicate information about benefits, as well as monthly progress toward company goals. - Facilitate relationship building
The various workflows engage staff throughout the organization, from Marketing, Payroll, IT, Executives, and peers. Workflows guarantee that new employees are properly and consistently introduced throughout the organization and that important conversations are taking place. - Leverage our institutional knowledge
OnBase provides a foundation for storing institutional knowledge. For example, we hold biweekly “Knowledge Share” meetings for employees to learn about Naviant, our industry, our partners, the tools we use, customer successes, etc. Video and audio of the meetings and presentation materials are stored in OnBase for all employees to access. - Conduct employee reviews
Naviant uses a workflow for our employee review process; it helps keep communication open between employees and supervisors for best performance results. We activate the review after 90 days of employment and on an annual basis. This process helps ensure that critical conversations are taking place with employees and their supervisors. - Demonstrate company culture
Professionalism, efficiency, high expectations, creativity, and teamwork are all words that describe Naviant’s work ethic and culture. By using OnBase in our onboarding process, it quickly proves the expectations of our company and demonstrates the absolute confidence we have in using this business solution.
